Dr Oelofse is a principal researcher at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research The date for the African Packaging Indaba 2017 has been rescheduled to the 26 October. The conference, which will be hosted at this year’s Propak Cape exhibition, will boast a stellar line-up of speakers. Highlights include discussions by a number of reputable organisations and their representatives.

These include:

  • André de Ruyter, the CEO of Nampak Ltd will deliver a keynote on sustainable manufacturing: Are imports decimating the future of packaging?
  • Economics and packaging: Investing in a sustainable future will be presented by a Deloitte representative
  • Dr Susan Oelofse, a principal researcher at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Researchwill discuss food waste and packaging: insights and advice
  • The future of FMCG retail packaging and how retailers and brand owners are thinking sustainability will be presented by Don MacFarlane from Woolworths
  • Innovation in a shifting landscape: Packaging adoption strategies driven by changing consumer behaviour will be presented by Esti Prinsloo, the innovation practice director at Nielsen
  • Marjie van der Walt a director at the Cape Town based design agency, M&A Design will unpack packaging sustainability: tools, systems and strategies for innovate package design

Last but not least, the day will conclude with an interactive panel discussion on a battle of the substrates. Interactive questions and topics will be dissected by Astrapak, Glass Decorations, Met-Pac SA and many others.
